Maximise Your Food Dollars
I was reading this article and thought it would be useful for bored people like me out there...
NB: i read an article from a magazine, a woman's world magazine.. *faint*
Forget foil and plastic wrap!
Why keep tossing precious resources like aluminium and petroleum (used to make plastic wraps), when using them doesn't prevent bacteria from reaching your leftovers? Your better bet: airtight, reusable glass or plastic food storage containers.
Refrigerate fruits and vegetables in separate drawers
Some fruits emit a gas that speeds the ripening of other produce!
Tip: Squash, tomatoes and oranges actually last longer when kept at room temperature.
Before freezing meat....
Repackage it in heavy-duty, vacuum-sealed or zip-locked bags; squeezed out all the air first. Store packaging does not protect from freezer burn.

Not bad, Idah! Helpful tips, especially the one about tomatoes and oranges! No amount of refrigeration seems to make them last a lil longer! :-)
Thank you P!!!
i know, i thought the best way was to keep them in the fridge, but since its in a woman's mag, i better follow it.. heheheh
